I can still remember the first time I ever heard metal guitar. I was
13 and the band was Pantera. The thunderous bass and punishing drums,
topped off with throat-wrenching guttural vocals, and the tight
aggressive tone of the guitar was all it took to get me hocked on
playing metal guitar.
Engaged in a room full of CDs, books, magazines, and everything else I
could lay my two hands on, I began my journey into mastering metal
guitar. I spent well over a decade learning how to play metal guitar,
and finally figured it out!
Soon after studying bands like Meshuggah and Dream Theater my guitar
playing really sky rocketed. My guitar playing went in a totally
different direction, and I became fanatical about playing shred guitar
and progressive guitar styles. After spending a lot of years
practicing, and playing in bands I finally found my true calling, and
that is teaching others all of the things that I have learned and to
spread the knowledge of how to play metal guitar.
Music is an enormous part of my life, and something that I am very
